Wexer Virtual, the provider of virtual fitness classes, is building up its European team and virtual content offering after the opening of its head office in London earlier this year. Adie Meyer has been appointed as Head of European Business Development, after many years in the fitness industry as Fitness Club Manager and Equipment Sales Executive. Meyer was Manager at JJB Sports and Bannatyne Health & Fitness, and then switched to sales at Precor and Matrix Fitness UK. Another recruit is Andrew Martin, previously at Nuffield Health and Fitness First UK, who joined Wexer Virtual as Business Development Executive.
The growth of the European team coincides with the growth of more engaging virtual content on Wexer Virtual players. This will serve Wexer’s partner list which includes the majority of the top 25 health clubs worldwide. Daily Burn classes were launched last week, based on a partnership sealed with the U.S. firm over the summer. Daily Burn produces content for virtual classes with high-profile trainers to be used in gyms, as well as a daily on-demand service – Daily Burn 365, with posts that are renewed and erased on a daily basis. Wexer Virtual says that Daily Burn has more than 200,000 weekly users, making them the most widely used content platform. “We are passionate about supporting people to live healthier, fit lives and by partnering with Wexer we are growing a community and support network that helps people of all fitness levels to do exactly this,” said Andy Smith, chief executive for Daily Burn, in a statement. The company streams high-definition workouts in disciplines ranging from high-intensity cardio to yoga, kettlebells and strength training.
Another partnership was sealed with Move 123, a venture launched by Tony de Leede. The partnership provides Wexer Virtual with videos covering six categories, with low intensity classes such as yoga, stretch and pilates, through to cardio, stretch and dance. De Leede is a serial entrepreneur in the fitness market and founder of Fitness First Australia. He went on to establish Fit n Fast, a low-cost club chain, but after the proliferation of budget clubs he started moving toward specialty gyms focusing on yoga. Move 123 provides content in short segments of ten, twenty or thirty minutes, making it easier to customise the offering in clubs. It ties in with the trend identified by Wexer Virtual through its constant monitoring of the usage of virtual classes on its installations. “Mind and body is a category that has been growing tremendously,” says Button. Wexer sells two standard packages of content with at least 600 classes, although offers may be customised. The company prides itself on its account management services, each gym having its own account manager.
