Wexer appoints CTO as its digital ecosystem grows

Digital fitness market leader Wexer has announced the appointment of Jamie Foggon as its chief technology officer – a new role for the brand as it further expands its ecosystem of digital fitness solutions.

Jamie has 20 years’ experience across the spectrum of technology, design and business, starting out as a programmer before moving into user experience (UX) design and strategy, and more latterly consulting and managing agency teams for the likes of Sony-Ericsson, Canon, Phillips – and, in the fitness field, Fitness First.

He joined Wexer in 2017, as part of its acquisition of Connected Fitness Labs (CFL), and has over the last two years led the evolution of the app – which he had been instrumental in building at CFL – to become Wexer Mobile.

“Key to this work has been integrating personalisation, analytics and features that extend operators’ reach beyond their four walls – all in a way that engages members,” says Foggon. “This is something I’m passionate about. I have a strong personal interest in fitness and I’m clear that, while you need to get the tech right, it’s the experience that really makes the difference.”

He adds: “Many CTOs are hard-core tech people, but I’m a genuine hybrid. I focus equally on building an experience, and on building the technology to seamlessly deliver that experience.”

“Over his two years with Wexer, Jamie has been an invaluable member of the team,” says Wexer CEO Paul Bowman. “His significant expertise in mobile has shaped the development of the Wexer Mobile app, but his role has extended far beyond this, providing guidance across our growing portfolio of products.

“His exceptional combination of strategic insight, design expertise and UX experience will ensure the continued evolution of a Wexer ecosystem that meets the needs of fitness providers and end users alike.

“Our mission as a company is to harness the power of best-in-class technology to make world-class exercise accessible to more people. Jamie’s appointment as CTO is an important step in our journey towards achieving that mission.”
