Swiss operator Basefit has unveiled details of a new tiered membership structure for its 40 full-service health clubs, including a premium option which, among other benefits, provides access to on-demand virtual group exercise.
This new benefit comes as the result of a collaboration with Wexer, which will see the Wexer Web Player integrated into the Basefit app.
The Wexer Web Player is a password-protected, white label web portal that allows users to stream their choice of virtual group exercise class – any time, anywhere, to any internet-enabled device. All classes are led by the world’s top instructors, ensuring users are guided through an effective, safe, motivating workout wherever they are.
The majority of Basefit’s in-club classes are delivered virtually, where the content is exclusively CYBEROBICS – with Hollywood-quality productions that are shot in jaw-dropping locations around the world. The Web Player content that has been integrated into the Basefit app reflects this, with just the German language CYBEROBICS collection on offer.
Any Basefit member who opts for the premium membership package will be able to access CYBEROBICS classes through the Basefit app, meaning they can do exactly the same workout from home as they enjoy doing at the club.
Combined with the white label nature of the Web Player, Basefit is therefore able to present all of this content to members as a seamless extension of their Basefit experience, with quality-guaranteed workouts from their trusted health club brand.
“We know that members are increasingly looking to complement their in-club workouts with at-home exercise. We were therefore very keen that our top tier of membership would include access to high-quality virtual group exercise that would replicate the in-club experience,” says Thomas Küttner, COO at Basefit.
“Our collaboration with Wexer allows us to add huge value to our members, with a world-class ‘any time, anywhere’ exercise proposition. And from our perspective, it drives retention by helping us forge deeper, more meaningful relationships with members even beyond the walls of our clubs.”
Paul Bowman, Wexer CEO, adds: “One of the joys of our Web Player platform is how flexible it can be. The full library contains hundreds of classes, but we can curate this to suit the specific needs of any operator, ensuring the online or in-app offering directly reflects the experience members receive at the club.”
Basefit was recently acquired by UK low-cost operator PureGym, through the latter’s acquisition of Fitness World; Fitness World had previously acquired Basefit in 2018.
